Срок полномочий Верховного Совета Киргизской ССР - пять лет. Срок полномочий местных Советов народных депутатов - два с половиной года. Выборы в Советы народных депутатов назначаются не позднее чем за два месяца до истечения срока полномочий соответствующих Советов.
